DETERMINATION THAT INSPIRES

Peter Išpold is an inspiration that moves both the world of sports and our hearts ❤. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of our company, AFINIS Group®, we provided financial support at the end of last year to the exceptional athlete Peter Išpold from Special Olympics Slovakia, who is also an ambassador of this global organization.

Its mission is to give people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop their skills through sports, gain self-confidence, experience the joy of movement, and become integrated into society. To fulfill this mission, Special Olympics Slovakia offers a year-round cycle of training and local as well as international competitions in various Olympic and non-Olympic sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. They thus create new opportunities for the development of physical and mental abilities. Athletes with intellectual disabilities have the chance to show their courage, enjoy the joy of victory, and feel the power of friendship. Their success can be shared with their families, friends, fellow athletes, and the whole society.

In Slovakia, Special Olympics brings together more than 3,300 athletes across 42 clubs, training and preparing in 22 sports disciplines. Globally, the SPECIAL OLYMPICS organization operates in 170 countries and includes over 4.5 million athletes with intellectual disabilities.

As part of our philanthropy, we contributed towards a cycling trainer for Peter so he could train properly even during the winter season and prepare as best as possible for this year’s competitions. And he kicked off the season in style! He has already participated in many races and competitions, delivering truly excellent performances.

Last weekend, Peter Išpold became the star of the triathlon in Šamorín, which was also the 4th edition of the Special Olympics European Championships. After 750 meters in icy water, 20 kilometers on a bike, and a 5-kilometer run, competing against more than 170 participants, including able-bodied athletes, he proved that sport knows no boundaries and secured a fantastic 16th place! Additionally, he earned the title of Special Olympics European Champion. Congratulations!

We are proud to stand alongside individuals whose determination and performance prove that limits exist only in our minds. We’re cheering for you, Peter!
